Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Mastopexy, or breast lift, corrects breast ptosis (sagging) by repositioning the nipple and removing excess skin. It can be performed with or without implants.

01

Description

Mild ptosis can be corrected with a peri-areolar incision alone. Moderate to severe ptosis requires an inverted-T (anchor) scar for an optimal, long-lasting result.

02

Surgical technique

If breast volume is satisfactory, mastopexy alone is sufficient. In case of volume loss (post-pregnancy, weight loss), combining it with implants restores volume and shape simultaneously.

03

Recovery

Repositioned, firm breasts with a nipple well centered on the breast tissue. The silhouette is rejuvenated and shape restored. Results are long-lasting as long as weight remains stable.

FAQ

Not necessarily. If your breast volume is satisfactory, the lift alone is enough to raise and shape the breasts. Implants are added if you also wish to increase volume.

Scars are unavoidable (around the areola and vertical, sometimes in a T shape). They fade considerably within 12-18 months and are hidden by a bra or swimsuit.

The result lasts 10 to 15 years on average. Aging, weight fluctuations, and any future pregnancy can affect long-term outcome.

Modern techniques often preserve the milk ducts. Breastfeeding remains possible in many cases, but may be reduced depending on the extent of the lift.

Light exercise resumes after 4 weeks, intense sport after 6-8 weeks. A suitable sports bra is recommended for the first few months.
